Wellness should not be judged by the absence of physical symptoms. In western medicine, if you do not have specific symptoms or positive test results, for example, a headache or low blood iron level, then you are considered to be well, although you may not feel good within yourself.
Acupuncture treatments optimise the qi and blood flow, make you feel relaxed and balanced, stimulate the healing potential within the body, and give you a feeling of wellbeing.
Acupuncture improves sleep
Acupuncture increases nocturnal melatonin secretion and reduces insomnia and anxiety. Acupuncture treatment may be of value for some categories of anxious patients with insomnia.J Neuropsychiatry Clin Neurosci. 2004 Winter;16(1):19-28.
The study reveals that acupuncture increases the night time levels of the “sleep hormone” — melatonin. At the end of the trial, anxiety levels were significantly lower and sleep efficiency had increased. Both sleep quality and sleep time had improved considerably.
